Notice to Clients

The Board of Behavioral Sciences receives and responds to complaints regarding services provided within the scope of practice of clinical social workers. You may contact the board online at www.bbs.ca.gov, or by calling (916) 574-7830.

Scope of Services

I provide psychotherapy services via telehealth to individuals and couples located in California. This work is not a substitute for medical or psychiatric treatment, and I do not prescribe medication. If you are currently working with a physician or psychiatrist, I'm glad to coordinate care with your permission.

Telehealth Informed Consent

Sessions are conducted via secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. As with any telehealth service, there are some inherent limitations compared to in-person care, including the possibility of technical disruptions and the absence of in-person crisis response. If you are located outside a reasonable distance from emergency services, or if we lose our ability to reliably connect, we will discuss an appropriate plan together before beginning services.

Fees and Good Faith Estimates

Under federal law, clients who are not using insurance to pay for services have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges before treatment begins. I provide this estimate to all new clients as part of the intake process, and you're welcome to request one at any time before scheduling your first session.

Confidentiality

What you share in session is confidential, with a small number of legal exceptions common to all licensed therapists in California — including situations involving suspected child or elder abuse, credible threat of serious harm to yourself or others, or a court order. These exceptions are covered in full during the informed consent process before we begin working together.
